Wisdom

I wish that I could help you solve… the problem that you face…

And with some magical advice… Your fears I could erase…

But in this situation, friend …The choice must be your own…

With wisdom of decision that… belongs to you alone…

There are some difficulties where… good counsel is of aid…

And as we strive to follow it …The clouds around us fade…

But there are things That no one else… Can help us to decide…

Except as we most fervently …Ask God to be our guide…

And this is one of them, my friend… so try to understand…

And as you start to take your step…Request His helping hand.  –James J. Metcalfe

The Charm, by Kathleen Aparo

I’d like to keep the stillness ….in my pocket like a charm,

Something to remind me….there is no cause for alarm.

I’d like to keep the silence close….where I can touch at will

The solitude that only comes….when God and I are still.

It’s easy to give in to…the pressures all around

To answer yes when you mean no…to lose your solid ground.

But if within my pocket….God’s peace gently lays

I’d  feel His grace caressing me….each and every day.

I Thank You, God

This prayer, O God, is not to ask…For blessings great or small… For comfort, happiness, success…Or anything at all… But just to let you know, O God…My gratitude today… For everything that you have done…to help me on my way… To thank you for the strength of heart…That you have given me… And for protecting me from harm…And painful injury… For faith and freedom, work and rest…Enough to eat and drink… And words of wisdom from your lips…To guide me when I think… A prayer to thank You, and to say …That I will try to do… The best I can to show you, God… I mean my thanks to you.

Good Morning God

Good morning, God, and thank You for … The glory of the sun…And thank You for the health I have… To get my duty done… I shall devote the Hours of… This golden day to You… By honoring Your holy name… In everything I do… I shall pursue my daily art… Without complaint or fear… And spend my every effort to… Be friendly and sincere… I know there have been many days… That I have whiled away… But this is one that I will try … To make Your special day… And so once more, good morning, God… And please depend on me… Because I want to honor You…For all eternity.

Christ in the Home, by James Metcalfe

I like to visit any home . . . Of wood or stone or bricks. . . But it is not a home unless . . .It has a crucifix . . . It may be warm and comfortable . . . As any house can be . . . And there may be a happy and . . . A loving family . . . And there may be companionship . . . And moments made for kissing . . . But if there is no crucifix . . . Then there is something missing . . . There is no evidence that God . . . Is in the home and heart . . . To hold that loving family . . . And never let it part . . . There are no Christmas candles and . . . There are no New Year wicks . . . That bless the home unless they burn . . . Before the crucifix.
